The parents play a huge role in Junior Surf. Ruakaka Surf Club encourages all parents to take the opportunity to become active contributors to the Junior Surf program.
We insist that parents/guardians remain at the beach during training. Your assistance with training sessions is usually required.
Spectators
It is always a pleasure to see families encouraging and supporting Junior Surf members as they train and compete. At all times, please ensure your behavior and language are appropriate and that your encouragement is positive and in the spirit of fair play. Any concerns can be discussed with the coach or team manager. Most of all, remember to KEEP IT FUN!
Parent helpers
Your help during training sessions is always required and appreciated by the coaches whether setting up equipment, BBQ, cleaning and packing away the gear, helping with fundraising, or being involved in the water.
Your family will be rostered to help with the clean-up and bbq duties at the end of each Junior Surf session.
Coaching
If you are interested in coaching, consider attending a 1 day Junior Surf Coach course and becoming a certified Junior Surf coach. These are popular courses so bookings are necessary – contact Howard Hape
Officialling
Each club must provide a proportionate number of certified Surf Officials at carnivals to supervise and judge events. Our club is in need of qualified officials. Please consider attending a 1 day Surf Officials course – contact T.B.A.
If you stay on after junior surf to enjoy the beach all registered members are able to use the club boogie boards. Please ensure you treat our property as you would your own and please wash anything used, before putting it away. If you are unsure please check with the lifeguards on duty.
We trust you will enjoy your season with us and look forward to a long summer day
